About Dolly Sixpence
Each little Dolly Sixpence starts with a humble wooden peg (clothespin) as a base. I carefully hand-sculpted the tiny head and arms from polymer and paper clays and finished them with coats of paint and varnish.
I dress each Dolly Sixpence in Kate Greenaway style clothing. A pretty floral dress, white apron and a mop cap to protect her curls. When finished she measures 11 cm (4.5 ins) and will stand happily on a display shelf or in a dolls house.
Under her dress she has a petticoat and long bloomers trimmed with lace.
In her tiny lace bag she carries a shiny 'lucky sixpence'.
In England the tradition of giving a sixpence as a good luck token has continued for over 400 years. It is given at weddings, baptisms, birthdays and other special occasions.
Due to decimalisation in 1971 sixpences are no longer in circulation but I have a small number dating from the 1960s that I am using with the dolls.

Arabella's dress is made from a pretty floral cotton in shades of pink, blue, green and russet. Her broderie anglaise apron has a pink ribbon tie.
She has a pert little nose, her arms are wired and her feet/shoes are painted pink.
Her mop cap covers her auburn curls.
She carries a little lace bag containing a shiny 'lucky sixpence'.

Rosanna's dress is made from a cream vintage cotton printed with rosebuds. Her broderie anglaise apron has a pink ribbon tie.
She has a pert little nose, her arms are wired and her feet/shoes are painted pink.
Her mop cap covers her blond curls.

PINCUSHION DOLLS seeking homes
Dolly pincushion 'ROSE' (pink and white)
Rose started life as a humble wooden peg (clothespin). From polymer and paper clays I carefully hand-sculpted her head and arms. The arms are attached to wire to allow for movement. Finally I finished them with coats of paint and varnish. The wooden peg sits nicely inside Rose's pretty skirt which is firmly stuffed with fibre filling.
The skirt has a machine embroidered pink silk band at the hem and is decorated with vintage lace and white pearl buttons. Rose has a pink pearl necklace and earrings and blond (mohair) hair. She assures me she that she will be happy to be a gaurdian of your pins as they will cause her no discomfort. Rose measures 15 cm (6 in)
