You might remember last week I told you I was I feeling rather autumnal. Well friends, today you find me feeling distinctly festive. The reason....
I just happened to be loitering outside the local fabric store (as you do) when my eye was drawn to some delicious silver and gold fabrics. It's a warm sunny summery day today but on seeing these I was immediately transported to mid December and could definitely detect the scent of pine needles in the air. I had to buy a small selection of course.
On arriving home I matched the fabrics to my various trims.....
and was closely watched by some little faces waiting patiently to be made into Christmas fairies. It's never too early to start thinking about Christmas is it?
I am not ready to feel autumnal yet much less Christmassy, but your little angel/fairies are too cute! I'll get there in a just a few weeks, but we still have a month left of vacation before I have to let go of summer, PLUS it just got hot here!
LOL! Erin :)

It is scorching hot here today in New England, but some stores are already filled with Halloween decorations and a few have started putting out Christmas items, too.
You are right, though. To get things made for the holidays, one must start now. I actually bought some Christmas gifts over the weekend!
Do like your trims!

It's never too early to make things for Christmas! I've done several of your sweet sheep and darling penguins to use as Christmas tree ornaments already!
And this gold and silver display is making me want to try some angels too.

Hi Eli:
I have just looked at your blog after reading your comment on Helen's blog about the cute alpacas. I ADORE your 2 sheep and their story! I don't knit but I would love to needle felt a sheep. I haven't read "Around the world in 10 blogs" yet but plan to after work today. You are terrific! Fondly, April.

Dear Eli,
I agree, it's never too early to be thinking about Christmas! Unfortunately, we usually only think about it till a week or two before, then have to scramble for presents!
I'm looking forward to seeing your complete fairies.
Love,
Marqueta

It's blazing hot here (finally) so I'm still on summer mode but those are going to be the sweetest angels ever.

Oh Eli, I am so glad to be back and reading your blog again!
I am already laughing at your little quip about the fabric shop and loitering "(as you do)" LOL!!!
I can't wait to read on, but it is late now so I will be back tomorrow for some catch-up!
Thanks for visiting me and sending kind words during my recent illness.

Dear Eli,
Your fabric and trims are so beautiful and festive. The fairy faces are so sweet! You are such a creative lady, and I don't think it is ever too early to start thinking about Christmas. Thank you for the inspiration!

Hi Eli,
Sorry that your back has been playing up. Yeuk. But if you are able to sit at all, then it is a great opportunity to craft in peace. The Christmas mood has been creeping up on me too and I am making room now for Angels, Santas etc. in my craft room. It may feel silly now (in August) but I know I will be really happy in November when I NEED the stock!
Love the results of your loitering. Lucky, clever you.
